Ashes will be distributed at both the Mass and prayer services. The ashes that we bless are a visible sign of a divine invitation: to turn (or re-turn) our lives more deeply towards a loving God who wants to embrace us and whose heart is waiting to welcome us back. For this reason, priests will be available to hear confessions throughout the afternoon in our Catholic chapel, Melville Library Room N5573.

#FlashbackSunday – Ask Father Jerry
- What did you study in college?
When do you go to confession?
How did you choose between diocesan priesthood and a religious order?
How have you grown spiritually since becoming a priest?
These are just some of the questions posed to Fr Jerry Cestare at last Monday’s “Grill the Priest”, sponsored by the Newman Club. Fr Jerry told us his vocation story and spoke honestly about how he tried to “run” from God and the priesthood. One of the take-aways of the evening was his message that God doesn’t look for “perfect”– He calls each of us and wants to use us as we are. Fr Jerry answered every question with straightforward good humor; most students felt the evening gave them a better understanding of the priesthood and a deeper appreciation for Fr Jerry.

Help Island Harvest’s Hurricane Relief Efforts!!
As part of our campus’ hurricane relief efforts, a collection box is located in the interfaith Center, on the fifth floor of the Melville Library — right outside of the CCM offices! The University is partnering with the Medical School and Island Harvest, a food bank which will take care of transportation of supplies gathered.
Island Harvest has some very strict guidelines about what can and cannot be donated:Most Needed Items:
- Pop-top ready to eat items
- Baby cereals and baby foods in plastic containers
- Shelf-stable/canned items such as peanut butter, tuna, chicken, beans, and soup (no glass containers)
- Dried fruit, oatmeal, cereals, granola bars, rice, and pasta
- Bottled water
- Cleaning supplies such as bleach, non-bleach cleaners, and paper towels
- Personal hygiene products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and deodorant
Please help our brothers and sisters suffering from these recent hurricanes. If everyone on campus donated just one small item, we could fill several trucks! The collection box will be outside our office until October 10th.
#TBT – Room Blessings
Our annual room blessings this month brought us to Chapin, Tabler, H Quad, Mendelsohn, Toll, Kelly, Roosevelt, and West! Thank you for welcoming CCM (and Jesus) into your homes!
Lord, surround this room with Your Holy Spirit and be with all who will live here this year. Bless their studies with Your Spirit of Wisdom. Be their shelter when they are at home and walk with them when they are away.
May we welcome every guest with respect and kindness and may our door stand open to those who are in need. May friends who come to us in times of trouble and sorrow find here a place of comfort and peace.
May the spirit of prayer be a frequent guest and welcome roommate. May the spirit of praise guide every task or deed performed here. May all our comings and goings be under the seal of God’s loving care.
Thank you to the generous students that woke up early last Saturday for our Bethel Hobbs Community Farm trip! The fruits and vegetables grown at the farm are donated to local food pantries, with 40,000 pounds of produce donated this year alone.
