Week of January 28th – February 4th

Sunday Mass – 5PM @ Tabler Black Box

Please join us for Mass this Sunday at 5 PM in the Tabler Arts Center, Black Box, with our chaplain, Fr Sean Magaldi.

Spread the word! You can be an evangelizer just by inviting your friends, suitemates, and others to our campus Mass.  As much as we try to advertise, there are still students who are unaware of our Catholic ministry on the SBU campus. Please pass the word on to them.

Newman Club is Back! Mondays at 7PM in Melville Library, N5560

The Newman Club at Stony Brook University is the student-run Catholic club made up of young adults who are committed to deepening their faith, serving others as Jesus taught, and forming a community with one another.
Our next meeting will be tomorrow Monday, January 29th at 7 PM on the fifth floor of the Melville Library, N5560.
Come see what we’re all about!

Tuesday Evening Mass 7:00pm – 7:30pm

Melville Library, N5560

The first week of the semester is barely finished and many of us have already found ourselves back on the treadmill of stress and worry. Would it surprise you to know that Jesus doesn’t want you to live your life in a constant state of anxiety? He said, “It is my own peace that I give you . . . do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid” (John14:27).
Our 30-minute Tuesday evening candlelight Mass can help you to tap into that peace Jesus promised.  Connecting with Him is the greatest reminder of what (or rather Who) is most important in life. Afterwards you can return to your schoolwork refreshed and refocused.
If you have a little more time to spare, you are invited to stay for Adoration and the opportunity for confession afterwards.
Come experience the peace Jesus promised . . .

Small Groups

Think Small Groups aren’t for you?  Maybe you think you’re not holy enough, you don’t know enough about Scripture, you’re not that kind of person.
Not true!
Small Groups meet weekly in residence halls across campus to study the Bible, pray, and grow in fellowship together. It’s an opportunity to explore your spiritual side and form great friendships with like-minded students
At a huge state university, being part of a Small Group makes it possible to be known by others and learn more about how Jesus Christ can give meaning, joy and purpose to your life.

Small Groups will meet on campus this semester on Monday through Thursday evenings; join one on the day and time convenient for you.  For more information or to find a group near you, email Joanne Buonocore.  We will begin the week of February 5th.

Intercampus Gathering

Friday, February 2nd

On Friday, February 2nd, Stony Brook CCM will host the first Intercampus Gathering of 2018! Newman students from Adelphi, Hofstra, and LIU Post will be joining us for an evening of prayer, food, and fun.
We’ll be starting off with a 7 PM Mass at St Patrick’s Church in Smithtown , followed by pizza and dessert in the gym.  All are welcome to participate in the fellowship activity of the evening — an intercampus volleyball game!
The evening is free and open to all students, however, we need you to RSVP so we know how many to expect.  Please email Joanne Buonocore if you’d like to attend.  And if you can help with our carpool by driving other students in your car, we’d appreciate it!
Join us each week for student-led group prayer in the chapel, Melville N5573.

Fr Sean Magaldi will have office hours this Tuesday, January 30th, from 6 PM – 9 PM in the CCM offices on the 5th floor of the Melville Library, N5574.  Make this your semester to get to know Fr Sean!
